Замърсяването на въздуха, горещите вълни и променящите се метеорологични модели с по-дълги периоди на слънчево греене стават все по-познати за жителите на София. Изследователите сега искат да разберат по-добре как тези ежедневни експозиции на околната среда влияят върху здравето на хората с течение на времето.
За да отговорят на този въпрос, Асоциацията за развитие на София, Клъстерът за здраве и науки за живота и Virtech се готвят да стартират локалната фаза на ENACT (Ефект на околната среда върху здравеопазването и благосъстоянието), изследователски проект по програма „Хоризонт Европа“, който обединява експерти от цяла Европа, за да проучи как средата, в която живеем, работим и се движим, влияе върху развитието на незаразни заболявания.
През последните 18 месеца консорциумът ENACT положи основите за този следващ етап от проекта. Изследователите са събрали научни доказателства за експозициите на околната среда и здравето и са разработили цифровите инструменти, необходими за сигурно комбиниране на данни за околната среда и здравето. Консорциумът е проектирал и сензори и носими технологии за мониторинг, способни да измерват излагането на човек на фактори като замърсяване на въздуха, температура, шум и ултравиолетова радиация през целия ден, наред с физиологични данни.
Тези постижения сега позволяват започването на проспективни проучвания в пет пилотни обекта в Европа, а София е един от тях. Въпреки че всеки пилотен проект се фокусира върху различни здравни предизвикателства, всички те споделят една и съща цел: да се разбере по-добре как условията на околната среда допринасят за заболяванията и как тези знания могат да подпомогнат по-здравословни общности и по-ефективни стратегии за превенция.
В София изследователите ще изследват как метеорологичните условия влияят на пациенти със сърдечно-съдови заболявания. В проучването ще участват възрастни със сърдечно-съдови проблеми, които ще предоставят информация чрез здравни оценки, въпросници и мониторинг на околната среда за определен период. Резултатите ще помогнат на изследователите да разберат как ежедневните експозиции на околната среда влияят върху сърдечно-съдовите заболявания на местното население.
Информацията, събрана в петте пилотни обекта, ще допринесе за разработването и валидирането на нови модели, базирани на изкуствен интелект, способни да идентифицират връзките между експозициите на околната среда и здравните резултати. В бъдеще тези знания биха могли да помогнат на здравните специалисти, публичните власти и политиците при проектирането на по-целенасочени превантивни мерки и по-здравословна среда на живот.
Очаква се набирането на участници за проучването да започне през септември 2026 г. Допълнителна информация за участието ще бъде предоставена от Асоциацията за развитие на София и Биотехнологичен и Здравен Клъстер.

Air pollution, heatwaves and changing weather patterns with longer periods of sunshine are becoming increasingly familiar to residents of Sofia. Researchers now want to better understand how these everyday environmental exposures affect people's health over time.
To answer this question, Sofia Development Association, Health and Life Sciences Cluster and Virtech are preparing to launch the local phase of ENACT (Environmental Effect on Healthcare and Wellbeing), a Horizon Europe research project bringing together experts from across Europe to investigate how the environments in which we live, work, and move influence the development of non-communicable diseases.
Over the past 18 months, the ENACT consortium has laid the foundations for this next stage of the project. Researchers have compiled scientific evidence on environmental exposures and health and have developed the digital tools needed to combine environmental and health data securely. The consortium has also designed sensors and wearable monitoring technologies capable of measuring a person's exposure to factors such as air pollution, temperature, noise, and ultraviolet radiation throughout the day, alongside physiological data.
These advances now make it possible to begin prospective studies in five pilot sites across Europe, and Sofia is one of them. Although each pilot focuses on different health challenges, they all share the same objective: to better understand how environmental conditions contribute to disease and how this knowledge can support healthier communities and more effective prevention strategies.
In Sofia researchers will investigate how weather conditions affect patients with cardio-vascular diseases. The study will involve adults, who have cardio-vascular problems, who will contribute information through health assessments, questionnaires, and environmental monitoring over a defined period. The results will help researchers understand how everyday environmental exposures influence cardio-vascular conditions in the local population.
The information collected across the five pilot sites will contribute to the development and validation of new AI-based models capable of identifying relationships between environmental exposures and health outcomes. In the future, this knowledge could support healthcare professionals, public authorities, and policymakers in designing more targeted prevention measures and healthier living environments.
